NOV 21 – DEC 31, 2015
The Gallery at Fox Tax is pleased to announce it’s upcoming art show titled Human Nature. In this solo exhibit curated by Fox Tax’s own Missy Heitz, local artist Shelly Mosman displays a new collection of photographs. In scenes of everyday people, animals and objects, Mosman portrays a reality that is just a little brighter, a little bolder, and a little more magical. Using the camera to capture the moments that most people miss and the colors we imagine, but rarely see, she transforms the mundane into the fantastical and in doing so, challenges the viewer to see the wonder in the ordinary moments all around them. Opening reception will be held Saturday, November 21st from 6 to 10 pm.
After over two decades of shooting wedding photography, Mosman decided to take a different approach to her passion for photography. Shelly began shooting for herself. “Objects, locations and people sparked images in my head. I was drawn to certain people for the simple reason that I knew shooting them would give me an image I could never have created on my own, and because my camera could reveal something they may not have known was in themselves.” Her work has been featured in publications and galleries across Europe, Brasil and the US.
For this show, she will be exploring the feeling of a childhood state of mind filled with wonders and adventure and little sense of what’s beyond. Each photograph uses lighting to alter the mood of the environment and relies on the smallest mannerisms and expressions to offer narrative.
Opening Reception will be on November 21st from 6 to 10 pm.
The exhibition will be on display from November 21st through December 30th, 2015.
