OPENING RECEPTION: OCT 2, 2015, 6 to 10 PM
After a long summer break, The Gallery at Fox Tax is pleased to announce it’s upcoming fall art show titled Semblance. In his first solo art exhibit, Jonathan Aller, a classically trained painter, makes a divergent step into the modern tableau with a mix of vibrantly colored oil paintings as well as indescribably detailed ball point pen drawings. Opening reception will be held Friday, October 2nd from 6 to 9 pm.
Born with a love of art and the creative process, Jonathan Aller has spent his life generating art through various forms of painting and drawing. His childhood was spent sketching everyday life in southern Florida, and grew to a fascination with illustration. He graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and decided to continue his education in Florence Italy. In the heart of Tuscany at the Angel Academy Atelier, he completed the Classical Painting Programme in three years, studying under Michael John Angel, a student of Pietro Annigoni. Since then, he has showed his work in galleries, competitions, and various venues throughout the world. “Can’t Stop. Won’t Stop.” is the proverb Aller lives by. He strives to bring back classical beauty to the contemporary world with a renewed point of view.
For the current show, he’s exploring a more modern application of his traditional technique: colorful paintings of feminine forms fade in and out of two dimensional backgrounds. Insanely detailed portraits done in ball point pen stare eerily at the viewer from behind fantastically bearded, weathered and wizened faces. Each individual piece is a masterful work of technique, but as a whole, the collection creates an ensemble of conflicting ideas and themes; the juxtaposition of classical and modern, background and foreground, color and monochrome, masculine and feminine, all coming together to create a semblance of something more than the solitary forms they portray.
Opening Reception will be on October 2nd from 6 to 10 pm.
The exhibition will be on display from October 2 to November 9, 2015.
