  • Get Refunds Faster: the sooner you file, the sooner your refund will arrive!
  • Identity Theft: Let's face it. After Equifax data breach, none of us is safe. One of the best ways to avoid the headache of tax related ID Theft is to file before the thieves. Only one tax return can be e-filed under each Social Security Number. Beating ID Thieves to the punch and e-filing before they do is your best defense.
  • Making 2018 adjustments early: SO many things have changed for 2018 under new tax law, so discussing those changes now vs. in April could save you money sooner. Tip: Bring us a 2018 paystub and we can make suggestions on whether you can adjust your withholdings--possibly increase your net pay now (or avoid owing later)!!
  • Your Accountant is Alert and Ready: Not to say we don't do our best all tax season long, but right now, we're excited to get working with clients, we're well rested and have more time and energy to focus on your 2017 tax return AND discuss new law changes for 2018.
  • Review Entity Choice: With 2018 tax changes, this is a great year to review your Business Entity choice and decide if any changes would benefit you in 2018. Maybe an S Corp is no longer ideal. Maybe it is time to switch from Partnership to S Corp. Every scenario is different and seeing your 2017 income/expenses early would help us make choices for 2018 before it's too late.
IMPORTANT UPCOMING DEADLINES!!!
  • January 31st: If you have employees or subcontractors, W-2s and 1099s need to be printed and mailed to them. Please contact us if you need help with 1099 or W2 reporting.  1099-misc forms can be made online at www.yearli.com for a small fee each*.
  • January 31st: Quarterly payroll reports are due.
  • February 5th: Annual Sales Tax Report (If you have a MN ID#, you need to file online, even if you don't collect Sales Tax!  You still should report Use Tax on items purchased online without paying sales tax at time of purchase).
  • March 15th: Corporate and Partnership Tax Returns are due.
  • April 17th: Individual returns are due.
Please contact us BEFORE these dates (preferably several weeks) if you need help filing any of these, and we will be happy to help you.  For personal income tax, our schedules are pretty much full by mid March, so please contact us early to get in by the deadline (or file an extension).
