preparing for remote
Tax appointments:

I know we're all feeling upside down and blue.

As we stated in our prior email, we're very sad to not be able to see all of your faces in person right now. We hope you're taking the necessary precautions to keep your families safe. We know this week is extremely challenging for everyone on so many levels. We also thank you for your help and patience as we transition to this new way of working.

Please read on for how you can now best prepare for a remote meeting.

AT LEAST 24 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME:
  1. Fill out our Tax Organizer: We really need your help on this one. We now must require that you complete the sections that apply to you and return it to us before your remote meeting. Failure to do this will most likely result our inability to complete your tax return during the scheduled appointment time and may require us to file an extension. It helps us avoid omissions and errors now that we don't have you sitting in front of us to complete everything in one sitting.
  2. Scan and upload your tax documents here: Upload your documents (W2s, 1099s, etc.) and your completed Tax Organizer to our Secure Online Portal. You can take pictures and upload from mobile, or scan/upload from a computer. COVID-19 can live on surfaces and paper for several days; as of next week, we will not be accepting paper forms dropped in our mailbox. If you can't figure out how to send digital forms to us, we suggest you request our assistance in filing an extension and we'll help you after the April 15th deadline.
  3. Tell us how you'd like to remotely meet: After uploading your information, email your Preparer to tell them which of the following methods you would prefer:
    • Video Conferencing: We can send an invite to either a Google Hangout or Zoom Meeting. Just let us know which you prefer!
    • Telephone: If you'd like an old-school phone call, email your Preparer with the best phone number to use and they will call you at your appointment time.
    • Email: If you don't have a lot of questions to talk through with your Preparer, we can also simply work on your tax return during that scheduled time and email you with questions (if you upload all the forms in advance!)

if you don't have an appointment yet,
here are some options:

  1. Upload Your Tax Forms along with a completed Tax Organizer. We'll work on them in the order they are received and email you if/when we have questions.
  2. Schedule a Remote Appointment with your Preparer. Watch for instructions in the confirmation email on how to prepare for a Remote Meeting.
  3. File an extension and hopefully see us in person after April 15th. Email info@foxtaxservice.com with your extension request and include your full name, address and phone number.

breaking irs news: tax payment extension

The federal government just announced that they will NOT charge any penalties or interest for an additional 90 days after the April 15th tax deadline. This gives millions of people additional time to make payment on their 2019 tax bills.

If you want more time to file your tax return, we still need to request an extension. Please email info@foxtaxservice.com with your full name, address and phone number if you'd like an extension of time to FILE your taxes.

thank you for your patience and help

We greatly appreciate your help in making this transition to remote meetings and we look forward to talking/emailing/video-conferencing with you soon!
